E-commerce and m-commerce continue to grow and increase impact across emerging and advanced economies. Enabled by rising internet and mobile device penetration, m-commerce is expanding its reach in Vietnam. M-commerce can help reduce costs, improve efficiency and strengthen commercial links within the economy. It is a way for a business to gain access to new markets, clients and suppliers.

With the mobile Internet penetration reaching 57.56 per cent of the total population, Vietnamese consumers consider online shopping with the use of mobile devices more convenient and secure. The Vietnam E-Commerce Report 2015 states that 88 per cent of Internet users conducted an online search for information of products or services via a mobile device before making any decisions. However, the Vietnam E-Business Index 2015 reports that only 26 per cent of business websites are mobile-friendly. Evidently, the demand for mobile e-commerce has increased. But enterprises are not ready to meet the needs of their customers and shift to mobile-friendly websites.

The first Vietnam Mobile Day event held in 2011 drew participation from thousands of businesses and IT experts, resulting in one of the largest mobile events held in Vietnam. The Vietnam Mobile Day 2016, organized by Vietnam E-Commerce Association (VECOM) and Applancer Topdev, is considered the largest series of IT events in 2016. The event will be held in 03 locations: Ho Chi Minh City on June 18th, Hanoi on June 25th and Da Nang on July 2nd. Over 3,000 participants and 150 influential IT enterprises are expected to attend these events. This year’s event has remarkably received contribution from the world’s big names such as Google, Nielsen and Verisign, which is also one of the key sponsors.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, President of VECOM

“It is essential for enterprises to stay abreast of the latest mobile e-commerce trends, in order to retain their competitive edge in the business environment. The Vietnam Mobile Day 2016 is a good platform for enterprises to gain knowledge on mobile e-commerce, business and technology. A strong online presence will ensure that enterprises are more visible to a wider audience, which I believe will definitely increase profitability in the long term,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, President of VECOM.

“A strong online presence requires a successful website with the right domain name. Considered the global standard for doing business online, numerous global enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies, have chosen .com to build their websites with the desire of extending beyond the local audience,” added Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung.
