EVN to Invest US$1.63Bln in Developing Electricity Network in 2005

 

The State-run Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) plans to spend VND25.57 trillion (US$1.63 billion) building electricity works in 2005, including over VND23 trillion (US$1.47 billion) of investment capital and VND2.5 trillion (US$159.2 million) of debts.

 

The corporation will complete and put into operation the

500-KV Phu My station in March 2005,

500-KV Nha Be station in September 2005,

500-KV Danang-Ha Tinh transmission line and the 500-KV Nho Quan station before May 2005 to supply electricity for the North,

500-KV Cai Lay – O Mon transmission line in the fourth quarter of this year to ensure power source for the southwestern of Vietnam.

 

Se San 3’s first turbine and the expansion of Phu My 2.1 are scheduled for completion in December this year.

 

EVN will also begin construction of seven electricity plants this year, including O Mon, Haiphong and Quang Ninh thermoelectricity plants, Se San 4, Son La, Ban Chat and Serepok 3 hydropower plants; seven 500-KV; 33 220-KV and 129 110-KV grids.

 

It has also invested VND100 billion (US$6.37 million) to build two large-scale power works such as 110-KV Bao Loc – Da Lat and 110-KV Da Lat - Duc Trong direct transmission line in central highlands Lam Dong province in 2005 to provide stable and safe power for Da Lat city and neighboring areas.

 

EVN, which produces 90 per cent of electricity in Vietnam, targets to achieve total output of 53.5 billion kWh with a projected growth rate of 13-14 per cent in 2005.
