Dr Doan Duy Khuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), recently had a working meeting with Mrs Yvonne Chan, Senior Trade Commissioner, Embassy of Australia in Vietnam in Hanoi. The two sides agreed to jointly organise the Education Programme for managers: Vietnam - Australia Executive Education and Training Mission 2017.
Vietnam’s annual 7 percent rise in gross domestic product over the past decade places it squarely among the world’s faster-growing economies. As Vietnam is adding more than one million labourers to its workforce every year together with its growing consumer class, the Vietnamese government is pushing ahead with skills training programmes which are intended to build a more competitive workforce in its breakthrough goals for the 10 year of development plan 2011 – 2020.
Labour and skills shortage is one of the biggest issues in the country. In a recent interview with representatives from business chambers in Vietnam, foreign companies have reported to retrain 40 to 50 percent of their Vietnamese labour force, which was mainly resulted from the country’s education system traditionally focusing on pure theory rather than practical skills. Those firms also confirm that local workers are capable of becoming very efficient once they have completed training courses at their companies.
According to the recent Career Builder’s survey, good career growth and opportunities have the highest average score amongst other employer trails associated with an employer of choice. As Vietnamese companies are expanding their business regionally and internationally, its human resource professionals and business leaders continues putting more effort on investment in their people, especially in personal development and quality training.
