GPC Co., the operator of Vietnam's No.1 mobile phone network Vinaphone, has said it will invest US$100 million this year to install more switchboards and base transceiving stations (BTS) to get rid of network congestions at peak times.

The investment decision was announced right after Vinaphone subscribers complained much about the network congestion for many days during the Lunar New Year Festival in early February. Many subscribers failed to make phone calls or send SMS at the time.
Vinaphone, which uses GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), has so far signed up 2.7 million subscribers.
GPC secured total revenues of VND13 trillion (US$828 million) last year.
