FDI Amounts at US$5.8 Billion in Q1, 2018

The Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment said foreign direct investors invested US$5.8 billion in Vietnam in the first quarter of 2018, down 24.8 per cent from a year earlier.

By investment field, FDI investors injected their funds for 17 sectors. Specifically, the processing and manufacturing sector drew most FDI fund of US$3.44 billion, accounting for 59.4 per cent of the total registered capital. By source, 76 countries and territories invested in Vietnam in the quarter. South Korea was the biggest investor with US$1.84 billion, accounting for 31.6 per cent of total investment. Ho Chi Minh City as the biggest recipient of FDI funds with US$1.7 billion, accounting for 29.3 per cent of total investment.
