E-Health Insurance Cards to Be Deployed in 2020
This information is affirmed by Mr Dao Viet Anh, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) at the Conference providing periodical information on social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance in October 2018.
Deputy General Director Anh said, the Prime Minister instructed the Vietnam Social Security to lead and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies in drafting the Decision of the Prime Minister on granting, management and use of electronic health insurance cards. The Prime Minister required health insurance cards to be affixed with chips powered by technology solutions mastered by Vietnam, interconnected, securely integrated and securely shared data with relevant ministries, sectors and localities.
The Vietnam Social Security has launched various measures to achieve the goal of issuing electronic health insurance cards as planned like drafting decisions approving health insurance card samples and plans for granting, management and use of electronic health insurance cards; developing plans to set objectives, action roadmaps and regulations on technological solutions for electronic health insurance cards. The Vietnam Social Security established local branches and programmes to seek consultancy from ministries and relevant bodies. At present, the agency is seeking opinions from 63 provinces and cities. After completing procedures, the Vietnam Social Security will submit the draft decision to relevant leaders and the Prime Minister for approval.
He emphasised that all contents related to electronic health insurance cards will be carried out by January 1, 2020.
