Germany-Vietnam Economic Forum Held in Hanover

Representatives from more than 40 German and Vietnamese companies have attended a Germany-Vietnam Economic Forum held recently in Hanover to seek partners and explore investment opportunities in the Southeast Asian country.

Many Hanover businessmen expressed their wishes to attend regular forums to exchange experiences in doing business in Vietnam and proposed the establishment of an economic network for effective operations.

This was the second forum held in Hanover with the previous one held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory in 2004.

Representatives also enjoyed a fashion show featuring young Vietnamese designers' jean collections, the Viet Fashion's "Sarafin" collection and a showing of Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese dress). The money raised from the event will be donated to orphans of the recent tsunami that hit Sumatra, Indonesia.

By the end of February 2005, Vietnam had attracted 60 German investment projects with aggregate registered investment capital of USUS$257 million, of which USUS$122.7 million had been put into operation.

Last year, Vietnam earned USUS$1.066 billion from exporting to Germany, up 24.67 per cent against 2003.
