Car Sales Grow 51 per cent on Year in March

 

Auto sales by foreign-led manufacturers in Vietnam soared to 51 per cent year on year to 3,165 units, according to figures released by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) on Tuesday.

 

The March figures raise total sales in the first quarter of this year to 6,932 units, up 26 per cent on year.

 

In February, eleven foreign-led automakers retailed 1,397 units down 30 per cent on year.

 

Toyota still led the market in the month with sales of 887units, up 55.3 per cent on month, holding 28 per cent of the market share.

 

Vidamco, a branch of GM-Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., and Suzuki (Visuco) followed with 519 units and 430 units in March, up 106.8 per cent and 21.5 per cent, respectively.

 

Ford dropped to the fifth place with only 294 units sold, down 15 per cent on year.

 

Mekong Auto Co. suffered the worst fall in sales by 31 per cent to 20 units.

 

In the meantime, all other carmakers saw delightful sales rises with Hino on the top with a 165 per cent increase.
