Vietnamese electronics industry has set a target to earn US$1.5 billion from exporting electronics products this year, up 15 per cent against last year, according to the Vietnam Electronics Industry Association (VEIA).
To realize the target, VEIA has invested about VND3 billion (US$200,000) to promote trade and organize international electronics trade fairs and exhibitions. The association has also organized five fact-finding trips to China, Hong Kong, Japan, France and South Korea to carry out market research.
It has also been working on international cooperation programs, particularly with partners in Japan, China, South Korea and ASEAN countries, to boost the domestic electronics industry, an association official said.
Currently, VEIA is on track to signing a cooperation deal in staff training with the Japanese Information & Telecoms Association and China Electronics Association.
It is also scheduled to join Asian electronics forums which will be held this July.
Vietnam raked in US$311 million from exporting electronics products and computers in the first three months of this year, up 45.3 per cent against the year-earlier period.
