Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung recently signed a decision to issue a list of scrap permitted to be imported from foreign countries for use as raw production materials.
According to the list, scraps permitted to be imported overseas and used as production inputs include scrap iron, steel, plastic, paper, glass, non-ferrous metal, blast furnace slag. Specifically, scrap iron and steel consists of waste and scrap cast iron, scrap alloy steel, scrap tin-coated iron or steel. Plastic scrap comprises waste and scrap plastic from porous, non-rigid polyethylene (PE).
Paper scrap consists of recovered waste paper or paperboard (waste and scrap): paperboard or corrugated paperboard or paper, bleached and undyed pulp.
Regulations on the roadmap for some types of scrap permitted to be imported from abroad as production inputs to the end of December 31, 2021. Scrap imports must have environment certificates issued by competent authorities.
