Ukraine's Avto Kraz Opens Rep Office in Vietnam

The Avto Kraz group of the Ukraine, one of the largest producers of heavy-duty trucks in Europe, opened its representative office in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on May 17.

The move is expected to boost cooperation with the Kraz sole partner in Vietnam, the Vietnam Coal Corporation (Vinacoal), in advertising, selling and resettling their disputes regarding capital, truck models and warranty responsibilities.

Vinacoal said that it signed a technology transfer contract with the Avto Kraz group in 2002 for 10 years. During this time, the Vietnam’s State-run corporation is entitled to have sole use of the Kraz trademark in assembling, manufacturing and selling Kraz trucks in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Since the first batch of Kraz trucks was turned out in July 2003, Vinacoal has manufactured almost 600 trucks ranging from 13.5 tons to16 tons for domestic demand.

Vinacoal plans to make 1,500 trucks per year.

Kraz's powerful and durable trucks are currently used in 60 countries, said an official of the representative office.
