Fococev to Turn out LPG-fueled Scooters

The Danang City-based Foodstuff and Technology Investment Corporation (Fococev) and the Danang University of Technology signed a deal on May 31 to manufacture LPG-fueled scooters.

The Danang-based academy led by Professor Bui Van Ga has successfully designed and experimented with vehicles that run on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Apart from the two-wheeler, it has also carried out experiments on cars.

Under the agreement, Fococev will be the sole producer of scooters equipped with LPG-gasoline converters under technologies transferred by the university. The fuel conversion kit will help scooters switch between the environmentally friendly LPG and gasoline.

Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Fococev deputy director, said his company will kick off the project this month and the first LPG-fueled scooters will be available on the local market in September or October. The scooter is based on the current Haesun models, which were launched several years ago.

Prof Ga said it took eight years to complete the study on the fuel converter.

Fococev, which is under the Ministry of Trade, is engaged in farm produce export, motorbike and parts production and fine arts products manufacture.
