In response to the appeal of the Vietnamese Government, TCC Group, in coordination with the Sirivadhanabhakdi Foundation, has contributed US$1 million (approximately VND23 billion) to the purchase of Covid-19 vaccine.

Accordingly, TCC Group contributes VND11.5 billion to the Vietnam Fund for Vaccination Prevention of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (“Covid-19 Vaccine Fund”) via the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front to join hands with the Government to set the target to offer free vaccination to the people in a bid to bring life back to normal and promote economic recovery. For the remaining amount, the Group will support approximately 80,000 people, who are the employees of the Group’s subsidiaries and their families in Vietnam, in getting vaccinated, when it is allowed.
Speaking at the ceremony to hand over the money to the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mrs. Tran Kim Nga, the Representative of TCC Group, appreciates the Vietnamese Government’s success in containing the Covid-19 pandemic and helping the Vietnam’s economy to have one of the highest GDP growth rates in the world in 2020. “Given the Government’s initiative to establish the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund and the unanimity of businesses and the people, we believe that Vietnam will soon obtain the community immunity target, defeating the Covid-19 pandemic and continuing high economic recovery speed,” Ms. Tran Kim Nga said.

At the event, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien expressed his great appreciation for the contribution of TCC Group, joining hands with the Vietnamese government in the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic. The President emphasized that the valuable contributions of businesses have played an important role in helping Vietnam to succeed in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. “Vietnam's opportunity to access vaccines is feasible and achievable in the near future so that all Vietnamese people can get free vaccination. From the money received, we will allocate openly, transparently and for the right purposes”, Chien said.
As one of Thailand’s largest investors in Vietnam, TCC Group has been operating in Vietnam over the past 30 years, with total investment capital amounting to US$6 billion through its subsidiaries, including Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (SABECO), MM Mega Market (Vietnam) Company Limited, Phu Thai Group, JV at Melia Hotel in Hanoi, JV at Me Linh Point Tower in Ho Chi Minh city, etc. The Group has so far created direct and indirect jobs for some 20,000 Vietnamese people.

“Ensuring safety and employment for laborers during Covid-19 is one of the first priorities of all the subsidiaries of TCC Group in Vietnam. Therefore, we are happy to contribute our part to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund of the Government, hoping that all the staff members of the Group will be vaccinated in order to reach the “double” goal: preventing the pandemic and developing the Group’s business, contributing to the common growth of the Vietnamese economy,” Mrs. Tran Kim Nga added.
Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam, all the subsidiaries of TCC Group have actively participated in the related corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. SABECO has supplied to over 20,000 medical workers and those in quarantine areas in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hanoi, Binh Duong, Khanh Hoa, Tien Giang and Ben Tre with 2.5 tons of rice, 572,000 bottles of pure water and other drinks, and 40,500 sanitizer bottles.
Meanwhile, MM Mega Market Vietnam (MM) has support the consumption of agricultural products for farmers in localities badly impacted by the pandemic, such as Bac Giang, Hai Duong and Son La, in an attempt to stabilize people’s life and production against the impact of the epidemic. In the context of the fourth attack of Covid-19, MM has assisted Bac Giang in consuming 700 tons of farm produce, opened “Zero dong market” with hundreds of packages of foods and necessaries as gifts for workers in industrial parks in Bac Giang Province. In 2020, MM gave one ton of fresh foods to 1,000 medical workers and patients quarantined at Hospital C in Danang City.
Up to now, MM has provided hundreds of necessities to support people as well as “white shirt soldiers’ in blockade areas in many localities. In addition, all employees from MM departments through the Trade Union have contributed VND 100 million to the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund.
In addition, Phu Thai Group has also donated nearly VND 3 billion, including more than VND 2 billion during the fourth outbreak of the pandemic, VND 1 billion to the Vaccine Fund of Hanoi, money, foods and medical equipment to quarantine areas in Hanoi, and nearly VND1 billion to pandemic-hit communes in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh.
Taking part in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Me Linh Point Tower JSC has also donated 20 infrared thermometers, which are worth over VND 1 billion and can take body temperature accurately from afar, to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in HCMC.
Along with CSR programs, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Group’s subsidiaries have also strictly complied with the pandemic prevention measures at their factories and offices to protect employees’ health and at the same time ensure stable production and efficient business as planned. Considering complicated developments of Covid-19, the subsidiaries have disinfected their workplaces and asked all the employees to wear a face mask, sanitize their hands and take their temperature before entering their workplaces.
