Ninh Binh Business Association Creating Solidarity for Joint Development

With the desire to get rich and contribute to the development of the province's economy, many businesses of Ninh Binh province have made great efforts to rise up and succeed with famous brands. In that success, it is impossible not to mention the role of the Ninh Binh Business Association. To learn more about these efforts, Vietnam Business Forum had an interview with Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Chairman of Ninh Binh Business Association.

What do you think about the current situation of enterprises in the province? Faced with the complicated fluctuations of the market, especially the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, how have businesses responded?

At the beginning of 2021, Ninh Binh province had nearly 9,000 businesses with nearly 1,000 branches and representative offices operating. Over the past time, many enterprises in the province have made great efforts to rise up and succeed with famous brands, not only in the country but also internationally. However, in general, these enterprises are mainly small and medium-sized, with outdated technological equipment, low labor productivity, high product prices, and lack of competitiveness in large markets. The level of legal knowledge of many enterprises is still limited. Their brand names are not strong enough for integration and linkage among enterprises is low.

Along with businesses across the country, Ninh Binh enterprises have to face many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Markets in some sectors were closed, making input materials scarce, manufactured goods could not be sold, and some enterprises had inventories of up to trillions of VND. To deal with the above situation, Ninh Binh Business Association regularly exchanged and received information from members and businesses, promptly classifying difficulties and problems to propose to authorities at all levels to support and solve. With the advice of the Business Association, many businesses have had good responses, found new directions in production and business, and created confidence in the business community.

To promote the role of a bridge between enterprises and enterprises, enterprises and authorities at all levels, and protect the interests of members, what tasks and solutions does the Association focus on?

Ninh Binh Business Association has 12 member branches with many member enterprises in 8 districts and cities. The association has supported and advised the Ninh Binh business community in improving corporate governance, building product brands, linking and using each other's products and services to form synergy. At the same time, the Association regularly invites leading experts in the industry to share with businesses about the world economic situation, the country's economic development strategy, legal policies, as well as business governance models. The Association is playing the role in sharing experiences for businesses, consulting to help businesses connect customers. The Association also organizes many trade promotions inside and outside the province. This activity is highly appreciated by businessmen and the business community.

In particular, in 2021, facing the difficulties of the business community, the Association was assigned by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with the Department of Planning and Investment to organize a dialogue program with businesses for the first time in 5 years. At this program, Ninh Binh Business Association proposed many solutions to make Ninh Binh a dynamic province in attracting investment and development. The Business Dialogue Conference 2021 is a premise for the Association to better promote its role as a bridge between the government and businesses.

In 2021, Ninh Binh Business Association is the agency assigned to implement the district and department competitiveness index (DDCI). What is your opinion about this survey?

Ninh Binh province always encourages businesses to participate in economic development mechanisms and policies and create favorable conditions to help businesses constantly innovate and develop. From 2021, Ninh Binh Business Association will receive a new role as a consulting agency to build a set of DDCI. This is considered a tool to assess the advantages and limitations of departments, branches, districts and cities in implementing, building and improving the business investment environment for enterprises and improving the province's PCI. DDCI has 8 component indicators including: Transparency and access to information; dynamism; time costs; unofficial expenses; fair competition; supporting businesses; legal institutions; the role of leadership. Although some of the component indicators have the same name as PCI, the DDCI has evaluation criteria that are developed in accordance with the province and add a "leadership role" index.

In the process of implementation, the Business Association wants departments, branches, People's Committees of districts and cities to clearly understand the purpose and meaning of the implementation of DDCI, and coordinate with the Association to provide survey and assessment information. Price. Surveying units and individuals must perform responsibly, impartially and objectively in order to obtain correct and realistic results. Besides, the Association also suggested that the communication work for enterprises about DDCI should be done regularly and continuously, so that enterprises have high responsibility when participating in the survey. The Association will be determined and make the best efforts to fulfill the assigned responsibilities.
