Three Collectives, 28 Individuals Awarded KOVA Prize

Three collectives and 28 individuals were presented with the KOVA prize under the sponsorship of the KOVA Painting Company in 2004-2005 for their efforts to overcome difficulties and record excellent results in study and work. Each individual was awarded between VND 3 million and 5 million while each collective, between VND 15 million and 30 million. In particular, the KOVA prize was presented to the collective of officers and men of the Narcotics Investigation Police division of Hanoi Police.
 
KOVA is an annual prize presented to students who overcome difficulties and record good achievements in study, and those who have ideas in scientific and technological activities, making a contribution to Vietnam’s industrialisation and modernisation process. Over the past three years, the prize has contributed to encouraging those who gain good results in study and work. The number of individuals and collectives has increased. In 2003, two collectives and 11 individuals were presented with the prize. In 2004, the number of collectives and individuals who won the prize increased to two collectives and 23 individuals. Also, the range of the prize winners has been expanded with increased focus on combating social evils, and places where ethnic minority people live. Also, among 24 students presented with scholarships there were six ethnic minority students.
 
Addressing the presentation ceremony, Nguyen Thi Binh, former vice State president and president of the KOVA Prize Committee, said she wished that the prize would further honour and encourage collectives and individuals, in particular poor students, who record excellent achievements in study and work. On this occasion, Binh expressed her sincere thanks to DuPont, Roh Mand Hars, Connell Bothers firms of the US and the Superior Company of Singapore for donating the KOVA fund.
