The Organising Committee of the Vietnam Golden Star Award 2005 has received 867 trademarks and products from 43 provinces, cities and ministries, a record high since the Award was launched on June 23, 2005.
Debuting two years ago, the Award has become a prestigious prize and a pride of Vietnamese trademarks and products, which helps enterprises to take more advantages in business. The registration figure showed that more and more localities and sectors are interested in building their trademarks and investing in developing key products to sharpen their competitive edge, and to further penetrate the domestic and international markets. This also showed that more and more enterprises have confidently set targets for international scale. Many enterprises have strategies to develop their trademarks and products under international standards. They pay attention to not only quality improvement but also to prices, technologies, environmental impacts and after-sales services. In general, all nominated trademarks and products are very competitive. Many of them have secured a strong foothold in the local market, including FPT, Dong Tam Brick, Trung Nguyen Coffee, Hanoi Beer, Viettien Garment, Traphaco Pharmaceuticals, Hoa Phat Furniture and PNJ Jewellery. Ho Chi Minh City has the largest nominees, followed by Hanoi, Haiphong and Danang cities. Many poor provinces also have registered trademarks and products, including, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Phuoc and Binh Thuan.
With the record 867 nominees, this is another success of the Vietnam Golden Star Award but it is also a big challenge for the Organising Committee. Under the schedule, the first qualifying round will start on August 18. The Preliminary Selection Council for this round has 30 members who are leading entrepreneurs and experts. At this round, registered trademarks and products are divided into 20 groups and each group will have 15 winners. After the first round, the Council will make investigations into enterprises, which have successful products and trademarks. The results of the qualifying round and investigations will be submitted to the Final Selection Council at the end of August 2005.
Early September 2005, the final selection round will be hosted in Hanoi. The prize-awarding ceremony will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 15, 2005. The successful products and trademarks of this round will be displayed at the Vietnam International Integration Exhibition Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. The event has been named the Vietnam Golden Star Trade Fair 2005. The four-day trade fair, opened from September 15 to 18, will have 400 stalls. The Government will support 50 per cent of fees for successful nominees.
