Million Dollar Shoot-out Golf Tournament in Kings' Island

"A Million Dollar Shoot out” tournament will take place at Kings’ Island Golf Course –-Dong Mo, Ha Tay province from 26^th to 30^th October 2005. This tournament is open to all amateur players in Vietnam and all over the world and it is the first-ever event of this kind in Vietnam.

 

“A Million Dollar Shoot out” is an international golf tournament that is being organised by Kings’ Valley Corporation in coordinate with Vietnam Football Development Company. Kings’ Island is the first 36-hole golf course of international standard in the North of Vietnam, and one of the most scenic courses in South East Asia. Covering an area of 350 hectares of ground and 1500 hectares of lake areas with an advantage geography, Dong Mo golf course has a great potential to promote and develop sport and recreational activities.

 

The top 50 golfers will be selected on each day of “the Eliminating Round” (held in the four mornings from 26^th to 29^th October) will participate in “the shoot-out”, which is set on Sunday 30^th October. During the “Eliminating Round” if any player records an ace (hole-in-one) will be rewarded attractive prizes that are worth about US$500.000

 

The 200 best golfers on the final day will make their one shot during the Shoot Out Day. If any player records an ace during the Shoot Out will win the one million Dollar Prize, yet if there is more than 1 winner, the prize will be equally divided among the winners, while in “the eliminating round” the prize will only be given to the player who makes the hole-in-one.

 

This tournament could help to change the fact that many golfers worldwide have little knowledge of Vietnam and only remember the country because of the war. The tournament will capture the attention of golfers world-wide and show them that Vietnam – the 2^nd fastest growing economy in Asia - has a thriving golf industry, said Mr. Robert Bicknell, Director Golf and Operations Manager for Kings’ Island Golf, and also the Tournament Director for the Million Dollar Shoot-out. The organizer will also donate 100 million Vietnam dong to a Children’s charity.
