Vietnam e-Government Symposium 2005: Helping Vietnam Learn from World Experience

The International Data Group (IDG) and the Department of Post and Telematics of Da Nang will organise the third symposium and exhibition on E-Government, which is themed ‘E-city and computerisation of State management.’ The event is expected to take place on December 2 and 3, 2005 at the Sandy Beach, Da Nang City.
 
It is being held to meet the demand on improving the awareness and gaining experience from other countries in the world in information and communication technology application into State management, under the guideline of the Ministry of Post and Telematics and the chairmanship of the People’s Committee of Da Nang.
 
This is the third time IDG has held such an event on e-government in Vietnam. The symposium will provide a forum for Vietnamese and foreign organisations, enterprises and experts to deliver reports on experience in information and communication technology application in developed countries. Also, via the symposium and exhibition, organisations, enterprises, ministries and agencies will be able to get access to suitable solutions to promote the information and communication technology to the gradual building of an e-government in Vietnam.
 
The e-government model of Vietnam will be depicted via reports to the symposium on open source software solutions, which offer a breakthrough to e-government, and workplace application in the building of group work in e-government, and the organisation and structure of e-government.
 
The symposium will see the participation of agencies, enterprises, ministries and information technology experts from Vietnam and foreign countries. the symposium will be attended by CIO Peter J. Quinn from Massachusetts, the US, and CIOs from Taipei.
 
During the symposium, an exhibition of information and communication technology products and solutions for e-government will be held with the participation of Vietnamese and foreign corporations, including IBM, Microsoft, HP, Oracle, FPT, Lac Viet and CMC.
