Vietnam Targets Oil Storage of 3Mln Cu.m by 2010
Oil storage warehouse capacities in Vietnam will reach some three million cubic meters by 2010 after new depots are built, said the report released by the Institute of Strategy Research under the Ministry of Industry.
Between 2002 and 2010, Vietnam will build new petroleum depots with a combined storage capacity of 1.15 million cubic meters.
The Southeast Asian nation is also mapping out a plan to set up a strategic oil storage system capable of meeting the national demand for the distillated fuels for 45 days, up from the current 15 days.
The storage capacity of oil depots will be further expanded when several oil refineries begin operations, said the institute. The construction on the first oil refinery is set to start next month.
