RoK's National Day Marked

On October 4, 2005, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Associations held a meeting to mark the National Day of the Republic of Korea (RoK), October 3.Pham Phuong Thao, chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council, said that the friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and the RoK had increasingly improved via official visits by top officials of the two countries.
The RoK is second in terms of foreign direct investment in Vietnam with 959 projects, capitalised at US$ 4.88 billion. In addition, the RoK Government has provided Vietnam US$169 million in preferential credit from EDCF and US$59 million in non-refundable aid to contribute to Vietnam’s multi-faceted development.
Kim Ji Young, head of the general consul in Ho Chi Minh City, said that many Korean enterprises had become profitable in Vietnam and in particular Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, cultural exchange between Vietnamese and Korean has been promoted.
