Vietnam Posts GDP Growth of 8.1 per cent in Jan-Sep
Vietnam secured gross domestic product (GDP) of more than VND587 trillion (US$37 billion) in the first nine months of 2005, up 8.1 per cent against the same period last year, said the General Statistics Office.
In the period, the industrial and construction sector posted the highest GDP growth rate of 10 per cent, at VND242.25 trillion (US$15.33 billion). The sector’s contribution to the national figure rose to 41.3 per cent from 39.79 per cent in the first half of this year.
The services sector posted a growth of 8.2 per cent, reaching VND223.7 trillion (US$14.16 billion) and making up 38.1 per cent of the country’s total GDP.
The agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors reported the lowest growth of 4.1 per cent, with combined value of around VND121 trillion (US$7.66 billion), making up 20.6 per cent of the national figuUSSUS
