Vocational Training Strengthened for Supporting Industrial Development

To transform Vinh Phuc province’s supporting industry into a crucial link in providing high-value content supporting industrial products for large domestic and international corporations and promoting exports, vocational training schools in the province have revised their training plans in line with this orientation to meet high-quality human resource requirements from local enterprises.

Vinh Phuc Technical Economic College (VTEC) recruits nearly 3,000 students each year

Vinh Phuc currently has about 300 industrial parts manufacturers, mainly engaged in five main groups of industries: The mechanical engineering industry, the automobile and motorcycle industry, the electronics-information technology industry, the apparel and footwear industry, and the construction materials industry. To meet the employment needs of supporting industries, local vocational training schools have expanded their training professions and strengthened international cooperation in high-quality vocational training, with a focus placed on locally strong supporting industries.

Vinh Phuc Technical Economic College (VTEC) trains nearly 3,000 students a year on average in 20 college-level majors, 26 intermediate majors and 12 elementary majors like education and training, information technology, electricity - electronics, mechanics, agricultural engineering, services and tourism. Its five key majors are communication and computer networking, mechanical engineering and technology, electrical and electronic engineering technology, industrial electricity, and control and automation technology.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, Vice Rector of VTEC said: To improve the quality of vocational training and meet human resources for socio-economic development, one of the best solutions of the college is to regularly consult enterprises, managers and experts to supplement, improve and update new knowledge to provide training close to reality to meet increasingly diversified labor requirements. In addition, the college pays special attention to job introduction and creation for graduated students. The school established an admissions center and formed close relations with more than 30 companies to provide internship and career opportunities for its students. More than 80% of graduate trainees are employed.

To meet the diverse and increasing demands of the labor market, Vinh Phuc Vocational College has mobilized investment resources to upgrade modern and synchronous teaching facilities and equipment; developed appropriate and effective teaching programs; focused on industries and occupations of high demand in the labor market such as industrial electronics, industrial electricity, information technology and automobile technology. At the same time, the college has expanded its cooperation with many companies in Vinh Phuc and other provinces to provide trainees with opportunities to familiarize themselves with real working environments before graduation. This helps them learn how to operate advanced machinery, technology and equipment, as well as cultivate knowledge, skills and practical experience. Currently, more than 90% of its students are employed after graduation, with more than 80% of them working in their fields of training.”

Vinh Phuc province currently has 33 technical and vocational education and training (TVET) schools with nearly 2,000 officials, teachers and lecturers. Their training scale has been expanded to meet local demands in addition to the gradually improved quality of vocational education. In 2022 alone, TVET facilities enrolled nearly 29,000 new trainees. Over 80% of trainees were employed within the first year of graduation, with 90% working in key industries.

To develop vocational education that meets the diverse needs of the labor market, Vinh Phuc province has increased communication and raised public awareness of this work. The province has also directed agencies and localities to actively advise, review and arrange the TVET system; formulate vocational trainee support mechanisms and policies; and promote career streamlining and guidance for high school students. Accordingly, TVET facilities have focused on upgrading, repairing and purchasing facilities and equipment for training, developing scientific and effective training plans, and accelerating information technology applications and digital transformation in teaching and learning.

Moreover, TVET schools have facilitated their employees and teachers to attend domestic and foreign training programs and contests to improve qualifications, expertise and skills. They have also strengthened cooperation with companies to develop training, internship and employment programs.
