Kim Son District Qualified for New Rural Development Standards

Kim Son is the only sea-facing district in Ninh Binh province, with a large natural area and a big population. After more than 12 years of implementing the National Target Program for New Rural Development, on August 18, 2023, the Prime Minister signed Decision 968/QD-TTg to recognize Kim Son as meeting new rural development standards in 2022.

During the past 12 years, Kim Son has mobilized over VND7,000 billion in development investment. To date, all its 23 communes have met new rural development standards, four communes satisfied advanced new rural development standards and one commune fulfilled model new rural development standards. 33 villages and hamlets met model new rural residence standards and all two towns were certified to reach civilized urban standards.

Kim Son can advantageously develop the marine economy, industries and services. The district leads in agriculture and fishery as well as rice output. In 2022, the per capita income of the district was VND57.2 million. The poverty and near-poverty rate fell to below 1.5%. Up to 99.53% of people were satisfied with the new rural development.

All communes reached new rural development standards. Dong Huong commune met the model new rural development standards while Thuong Kiem, Luu Phuong, Quang Thien and Yen Loc communes achieved advanced new rural development standards.

Mr. Tran Anh Khiem, Vice Chairman of Kim Son People’s Committee, said that the district has firmly and effectively carried out the new rural development program whose contents have materialized through infrastructure construction, new production approaches, and agricultural and livestock restructuring in recent years. In the coming time, to promote its achievements, Kim Son will further build better rural areas and translate each practical result into a solid foundation for the district to grow higher and build a more prosperous land.
