Navetco Ranks Top in Production of Veterinary Vaccines
Navetco Co., Ltd is a leading company in the production of veterinary vaccines and medicines in Vietnam. Its modern production line supplies 15 kinds of high quality vaccines to domestic and foreign markets.
Step by step
In late 1992, it was named National Veterinary Company (Navetco) and in December 2005 Navetco Co., Ltd.
Since 1995, by decision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the company has been the first and sole enterprise ensuring a national reserve of veterinary vaccines and medicines. It was also the beginning of continuous development in all aspects. In technology, the company has applied a high level of bio-technology and imported a modern fermentation system from Japan (30 and 300 litres) to increase the capacity and effectiveness of vaccines. To increase the output of virus vaccines, the company has imported two modern and high-capacity freezers and a vaccine production system. The company has also promoted international co-operation to upgrade technical standards and research, for instance the ACIAR programme (Australia) on veterinary diseases and vaccines.
The company can now produce yearly over 500 million doses of 15 kinds of vaccines and over 100 kinds of chemicals including those against bird flu H5N1. The company is also responsible for importing from China vaccines against livestock and poultry diseases. The company is also successful in the research and development of new products.
Due to those achievements, the company has been awarded Labour Orders Third and Second Class by the State, several Certificates of Merits by concerned ministries and the Golden Cup by the Department of Intellectual Property.
Strategic solution
After 50 years of operation, especially in the past 10 years, Navetco has developed a famous trademark. To attain international standards and compete in the world market, the company will apply ISO 9000 and build a new plant of GMP criteria in the Vietnam-Singapore IZ valued at US$5 million and operated in late 2008. Currently, the company is receiving technology to produce poultry vaccines at low cost to meet domestic demand worth some VND80 billion substituting the import of VND300-400 billion for 2-3 years. Mr Pham Quang Thai, Chairman and Director General of the company, hopes that the government, concerned ministries and international organisations will support the project. It will be a strategic solution to livestock poultry diseases in Vietnam.
