2006 Winners of Young Artist Art Grant Program
A presentation ceremony for the Young Artist Grant Program 2006 was held at RMIT International University recently to award 10 young Vietnamese artists with grants of AUD$500. Proudly sponsored by the City Council of Melbourne, Ho Chi Minh City’s sister city in Australia, and in conjunction with the Australian Consulate-General, and RMIT International University Vietnam, this program hopes to assist young Vietnamese artists to develop their talents and gain exposure, as well as to promote diverse arts and cultural activity in Ho Chi Minh City.
The grant money will enable these young artists to produce a series of visual artworks over the next six months and have those works presented in Melbourne during the Melbourne City Arts Festival in 2006. An encouragement award of AUD$100 is also being given to one applicant. This will be the first program of its kind held in Ho Chi Minh City and it will do much to strengthen the already warm relationship that exists between Australia and Vietnam in general, and Melbourne and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
