With a total investment of over $1.5 billion USD, AEON continues to expand its business operations and diversify its retail models in Vietnam. In 2024, in addition to the newly launched AEON Hue and AEON Ta Quang Buu, AEON Vietnam plans to open AEON Xuan Thuy General Merchandise Store and Supermarket in Hanoi in Q4.
After more than 10 years in the Vietnamese market, AEON has continuously expanded its business and reinforced its position in Vietnam—the AEON Group’s second key market, only behind Japan. With a total investment exceeding $1.5 billion USD, AEON has implemented strategies to diversify retail models to adapt to the evolving needs and behaviors of Vietnamese consumers, offering convenient shopping experiences that elevate customers’ lifestyles.
AEON Continues Expansion in Vietnam, Increasing Customer Touchpoints
In 2024, AEON Vietnam - the company responsible for the group’s general retail operations in Vietnam - plans to open a total of four General Merchandise Stores and Supermarkets (GMS). This is part of the company's strategy to provide convenience and meet daily needs, bringing AEON's standards closer to local customers.
Previously, AEON Vietnam introduced a supersupermarket model located outside of AEON shopping malls, focusing primarily on food products. Although also located outside of AEON shopping malls, AEON Ta Quang Buu is a full-scale General Merchandise Store and Supermarket with a total area of nearly 7,000 square meters, spanning two floors and offering a variety of products, from food and fashion to home furnishings.

AEON Ta Quang Buu aims to offer customers a unique shopping experience with competitively priced products and attractive promotions. Here, customers can also shop for exclusive AEON products, such as TOPVALU private brand items, specialized HÓME CÓORDY furniture stores, My Closet fashion, or Glam Beautique health and beauty services, all designed to elevate their lifestyles.
Mr. Furusawa Yasuyuki, Member of Executive Board of AEON Group (Japan) responsible for the Vietnamese market and General Director of AEON Vietnam, shared: "AEON will accelerate the expansion of its network and open new business locations, thereby increasing 'touchpoints' with customers. Through expanding our business system, AEON will not only contribute to the development of Vietnam’s commercial infrastructure but also promote the consumption of Vietnamese products through AEON's distribution and retail network."

In 2024, AEON Vietnam is not stopping at Ta Quang Buu; it plans to open AEON Xuan Thuy in Hanoi at the end of the year. With a larger scale and continuing the General Merchandise Store and Supermarket model, AEON Xuan Thuy is expected to become a new destination for the capital's residents.
Additionally, according to Mr. Furusawa Yasuyuki, AEON Vietnam is actively seeking suitable locations and partnership opportunities with real estate developers in Vietnam to establish retail models within their buildings and shopping centers. AEON’s long-term goal is to create more touchpoints with consumers while meeting modern consumption trends, contributing to the socio-economic development of local communities, and fostering a sustainable and prosperous life for people in areas where AEON operates.
