To bolster its appeal in the China market, Da Nang joined the Vietnam Culture and Tourism Promotion events in Kunming and Chongqing from November 3-8, aiming to attract Chinese tourists, form partnerships, and offer direct flights from China to the city.
Da Nang showcases its diverse offerings, including beach resorts, culture, cuisine, shopping, MICE, and golf
Da Nang’s Department of Tourism joined key events organized by Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and other Vietnamese organizations. These events offered a chance to boost Da Nang’s image, network with partners and expand in major Chinese cities.
During the events, Da Nang showcased its diverse offerings, including beach resorts, cultural tourism, cuisine, shopping, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, golf, destination weddings and unique city festivals. These efforts aim to boost Da Nang's visibility in China and build partnerships with travel agencies in Kunming and Chongqing.
Da Nang’s travel businesses also engaged in B2B (business-to-business) exchanges with Chinese partners, providing a platform to introduce Da Nang’s standout products and services. These meetings helped Da Nang build connections and explore opportunities to enhance tourism exchanges. They also helped Da Nang understand new tourism trends in China, allowing the city to better cater to Chinese visitors' preferences.
The Da Nang delegation participated in a meeting on November 4 between the Vietnamese National Administration of Tourism and the Department of Culture and Tourism of Yunnan Province to discuss a potential direct flight route from Yunnan to Da Nang. During the discussions, Da Nang’s tourism officials highlighted the city’s appeal to Chinese tourists and shared updates on recent growth in international visitor numbers from China.
On November 6, the Da Nang Department of Tourism continued these discussions with the Chongqing Cultural and Tourism Development Committee, further promoting the possibility of direct flights from Chongqing to Da Nang. This would create easier access for Chinese tourists, making Da Nang a convenient and exciting new destination.
Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, shared Da Nang’s aspirations for expanding its presence in the Chinese market: “Da Nang has long been a favorite destination for Chinese tourists. Through this program, we aim to strengthen Da Nang’s presence in China by showcasing Da Nang as a safe, friendly, and welcoming destination while introducing new tourism products to the Chinese market."
From 2016 to 2019, China was a key tourism market for Da Nang, with the city seeing a steady increase in Chinese tourist arrivals each year. In 2019, Da Nang operated 26 direct flight routes to major Chinese cities, enabling Chinese tourists to explore this beautiful coastal city with ease. With years of experience in welcoming Chinese visitors, Da Nang is well-acquainted with their preferences and has tailored its tourism products to meet the expectations of this important market.
By reconnecting with Chinese travelers in Kunming and Chongqing, Da Nang showcased its latest offerings and began revitalizing its tourism sector after the pandemic. The Da Nang Department of Tourism hoped these efforts will boost the city’s international profile, especially in China, an important market for its tourism industry.
