Over the 50-year journey (1975–2025) of Ho Chi Minh City's development, the business community has made dedicated contributions to economic growth while ensuring social security, helping elevate the city's brand regionally and internationally. In recognition of this, on the evening of April 15, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor 50 outstanding enterprises with leading brands and products of the city.

Great contributions to the city's development

Addressing the honoring ceremony, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that since the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975), Ho Chi Minh City has continuously strived to overcome challenges, foster growth and assert its role as the "locomotive" of the Southern Key Economic Zone and the nation in areas such as economics, finance, trade, culture, science and technology, innovation, and education and training. The city also serves as an important gateway connecting the region with the world. Over the past 50 years, its achievements have significantly contributed to the country's overall progress, affirming the city's pivotal role in national development and defense.

Nguyen Van Duoc added that since the late 1990s, the enactment of the Law on Enterprises and the Law on Private Enterprises by the National Assembly has created a strong foundation for Ho Chi Minh City's rapid economic growth. Along with the sharp increase in quantity, the business community has played an important role in driving the city's economic take-off. Currently, businesses and entrepreneurs in the city contribute over 50% of GRDP, 67% of total social investment capital, and 25% of total import-export turnover. Among them, 50 outstanding enterprises alone have generated more than VND461,000 billion in revenue, contributed over VND10,500 billion to the state budget, created numerous jobs, and consistently taken the lead in social security activities. Through relentless efforts, many of the city’s major brands have gradually affirmed their presence in the international market, bringing “made by Vietnam” products to global consumers. These enterprises also participate in key national projects and lead many vital sectors toward meeting international standards.

Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh City government always regards enterprises as an important resource and driving force for development, deeply valuing the significant contributions of the business community and entrepreneurs - those who work tirelessly for the city's progress. These businesses are symbols of the city's economic strength and serve as a source of inspiration for future generations to join in building the city.

“Entering a new era, we still have much to accomplish. Despite ongoing challenges and difficulties, I believe that with the tradition of solidarity, strong determination, great effort and decisive actions from the entire Party Committee and authorities, along with the support of the people and the companionship of the business community, we will achieve major breakthroughs for the nation. Together, we will soon realize the goal of making Ho Chi Minh City a regional and Asian hub for economics, finance and services. On that journey, I hope businesses will continue to accompany the city, take the lead in green and digital transformation, and provide valuable input to help the city grow stronger,” the Chairman expressed.

The ceremony carries great significance in expressing gratitude and recognizing the substantial contributions of the business community to the city's overall development. This award not only serves as a well-deserved acknowledgment of businesses that have continuously innovated, created value and contributed to the city’s prosperity, but also acts as a driving force to foster entrepreneurship, promote innovation, and spread the brand value and key products of Ho Chi Minh City to both domestic and international communities.

According to the Organizing Committee, the 50 outstanding businesses selected operate across various fields and industries, including 33 in industry and trade, 15 in services, and 2 in agriculture. These businesses are all reputable brands in both domestic and international markets. Their growth is closely tied to the shaping of Ho Chi Minh City's identity and forms an integral part of the city's 50-year development journey. They are trailblazers, pioneers in digital transformation, innovation and high-tech application, playing a key role in enhancing the image of Ho Chi Minh City’s enterprises in the context of regional and international integration.

Speaking at the ceremony, business representatives expressed confidence that, despite the complex global situation and numerous challenges facing Ho Chi Minh City’s economy, the united efforts of the entire political system will enable the city to move forward alongside the nation on the path of innovation and development, confidently stepping into a new era of national progress.
