Ho Chi Minh City today has not only reached important economic achievements but has also been successful in creating the new spacious and modern appearance of the city. Phu My Hung Joint Venture Company (Phu My Hung) is one of leading companies in infrastructure development in Ho Chi Minh City. Reporter Van Luong interviewed Mr. Bui Thanh Son – Vice Director of Phu My Hung over the company’s successes.
Recently, Phu My Hung has implemented many projects of construction and large infrastructure development, which have improved the people’s living standard and brought a new appearance to the city. Which projects do you like most?
Phu My Hung has succeeded in several projects, of which I most admire the project of Nguyen Van Linh Avenue. This is the leading work now with strategic importance in economic development of the targeted area in the South. This ten-lane avenue is 120 metres wide, 17.8 kilometres long with an entire capital investment of US$79 million.
The first phase, which includes two complex parts in the South, finished and came into use in February 1998. The second phase, which includes three lanes of high-speed road and enlargement of eight bridges, was finished by the end of 2003. The third - the last phase of project includes two complex lanes, three lanes of high-speed road in the North and enlargement of all remaining bridges.
This phase was started in April 2004 and will be quickly finished by the end of 2007 following the design approved by the Ministry of Construction. When finished this ten-lane avenue will be the largest and longest in Ho Chi Minh City.
It also will be the belt road to connect the Ho Chi Minh City high way of Trung Luong and Phu My Bridge to Cai Lai, Nho Trach, Long Thanh. The road will partly clear away traffic jams in the South and release the transportation of commodities with economic importance this avenue will bring about the development for all the region, creating jobs for majority of labourers. This infrastructure project was funded by the State budget.
What are Phu My Hung’s keys of success?
For high standards and correct process for projects with realistic efficiency for society, we always focus on investment in sources to further the company’s capacity. Firstly, we have improved our capacity and standard of administration for the staff by training and attracting talented people and modern working equipment, applying advanced technology and scientific working skills. Labourers have conditions to perform all their creative ability. We have also properly invested in promoting and marketing to increase competitiveness, building up and developing Phu My Hung’s brand, mobilising investment capital by joint venture and cooperation with domestic and foreign partners, etc.
Recently Phu My Hung Brand has had strong standing with practical projects. In the coming time, what are the company’s strategic goals for development?
In the context of renewals of State’s policies on land and competition between real-estate companies, Phu My Hung decided to diversify products and services as a new way for the future. Phu My Hung will implement several projects based on its advantages of land with the common standards of investment, planning, infrastructure, design, construction and management. These are to create more kinds of business and intelligence-based products. Phu My Hung will strengthen its joint venture activities with both domestic and foreign partners to attract more investors.
