Toyota Vietnam: 30-year Journey of Developing Localization and Supporting Industries

On August 7, 2025, towards the 30th anniversary of its establishment, Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) organized the event "30-year journey of developing localization and supporting industries" at the factory in Phuc Yen ward, Phu Tho province. This is an important activity to look back on the journey of promoting localization, developing supporting industries, as well as sharing Toyota Vietnam's sustainable development strategy in the next stage.

For three decades, Toyota has always considered Vietnam as one of its strategic markets and made efforts according to the Government's direction, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese automobile supporting industry and constantly strengthening the domestic supplier network for long-term industry development.

Up to now, Toyota Vietnam has achieved many remarkable achievements with 61 suppliers, including 13 domestic suppliers, more than 1,000 localized components exported to more than 10 countries with a total revenue of nearly 1 billion USD.

Through cooperation programs with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and associations, Toyota has implemented many projects to support capacity building for Vietnamese enterprises. By the end of 2024, 29 domestic enterprises have received support from Toyota, most of which have achieved 5S level 3 standards after being consulted for improvement.

At the ceremony, General Director of Toyota Vietnam - Mr. Nakano Keita said: "We believe that promoting domestic production and improving the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises will contribute to sustainable economic growth, technology transfer and enhancing national competitiveness".

Also within the framework of the event, Toyota Vietnam officially launched the “Support and Consulting Program for Improvement for Supporting Industry Enterprises” in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the 6th consecutive year, with the goal of accompanying domestic enterprises to improve their competitiveness and meet Toyota's global standards.

At the ceremony, representative Mr. Pham Van Quan - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry (Ministry of Industry and Trade) shared that Toyota Vietnam has demonstrated its pioneering role over the past 30 years with persistent efforts in technology transfer, human resource training and supplier capacity improvement, thereby contributing to promoting localization and bringing the Vietnamese automobile industry deeper into the global value chain.

Toyota Vietnam affirms its long-term commitment to accompany the Vietnamese automobile and supporting industry. The company will continue to invest heavily in localization activities, increase support for domestic enterprises and move towards global standards to align with the development trends and long-term orientation of the Vietnamese Government on sustainable, modern and integrated industrial development.
