This half-century has witnessed remarkable growth, cooperation, and mutual development, with German businesses playing a pivotal role in Vietnam's transformation. Siemens was officially established in Vietnam in 1993, a strategic move that perfectly coincided with Vietnam's burgeoning economic reforms and its opening to the global economy. From its inception, Siemens has been more than just a technology provider; we have been a true partner in Vietnam's journey toward modernization, leveraging its global expertise in electrification, automation, and digitalization to foster sustainable growth.
Over the past 30 years, Siemens has deeply embedded in Vietnam's key infrastructure, leaving an indelible mark across vital sectors including energy, healthcare, manufacturing, buildings, water, and transportation. This enduring partnership was recently reaffirmed during a significant meeting in Hanoi between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Siemens AG President and CEO Roland Busch, a testament to the deepening bilateral ties and mutual satisfaction expressed by both leaders.
Among Siemens' most significant contributions has been its transformative impact on Vietnam's energy sector, a cornerstone of any developing economy. Our company has supplied low- and medium-voltage equipment for hundreds of substations nationwide that help increase operational efficiency, improve grid efficiency, and optimize the construction of new plants. Siemens has also championed renewable energy, notably energizing Vietnam's largest solar power plant, Trung Nam-Thuan Nam, projected to contribute approximately 1 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid annually.
Beyond the energy sector, Siemens has consistently been at the forefront of Vietnam's industrial and infrastructural development. Our cutting-edge automation and digitalization solutions have empowered Vietnamese customers across diverse industries - from water treatment, food and beverage, and paper to cement, machinery, chemical, and metal - to significantly enhance productivity, energy efficiency, and global competitiveness.
Siemens has also actively supported Vietnam's ambitious digital transformation journey and its embrace of Industry 4.0. The company's Digital Enterprise portfolio has been a game-changer for Vietnamese enterprises, most notably assisting VinFast in realizing its ambition of building the first "Made in Vietnam" vehicle in record time. This collaboration showcases Siemens' ability to provide comprehensive solutions that drive innovation and foster local manufacturing capabilities. Furthermore, Siemens' Process Bus technology has been deployed in the Thuy Nguyen 220kV substation, making it Vietnam's first 220kV digital substation. This advancement ensures a more secure, efficient, flexible, and intelligent electric system, paving the way for a smarter grid. Siemens has also been actively involved in and significantly boosted the development of infrastructure for national data centers, further cementing its pivotal role in Vietnam's digital future.
Sustainability is not merely a corporate buzzword for Siemens; it is deeply embedded in its operational strategy and core philosophy in Vietnam. Our company's solutions are designed to make electricity generation, buildings, and industrial plants more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Siemens' building technology has enabled customers to achieve energy savings of 20-30%. A testament to this commitment is the German House in Ho Chi Minh City, which, thanks to Siemens' smart building management system, stands as one of Vietnam's greenest and most energy-efficient office buildings.
Further solidifying its crucial role in modernizing Vietnam's infrastructure, Siemens has demonstrated keen interest and presented our capabilities for the nation's ambitious urban rail projects. This commitment was recently underscored during a bilateral meeting at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in June 2025 in China, where Siemens AG Chief Technology Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, Peter Körte, presented to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh Siemens' comprehensive capabilities in delivering the electromechanical solutions for the upcoming North-South high-speed railway mega-project.
As Germany and Vietnam celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties, Siemens reflects on our more than three decades of partnership with Vietnam. This long-standing relationship is characterized by mutual trust, innovation, and a shared vision for sustainable growth. Siemens is privileged to have grown with Vietnam over the last 30 years, doing our part to help build this country and support it to become one of the most dynamic emerging countries in Asia. We’re also very proud to make remarkable contributions to the fruitful relationship between Germany and Vietnam. Siemens' story in Vietnam is a powerful testament to the impactful synergy between German technological prowess and Vietnam's dynamic growth, symbolizing a partnership that continues to shape a brighter, more sustainable future for Vietnam and its people, truly transforming the everyday.
