Over 30 Years of Partnership with Vietnamese Agriculture

More than three decades ago, when the Charoen Pokphand Group from Thailand first invested in Vietnam, its vision was never confined to business growth alone. It was about joining hands with Vietnam to build a modern, safe, and sustainable agricultural sector, with people and the environment at its heart. From its early days as a pioneer in animal feed and livestock farming, C.P. Vietnam Corporation (C.P. Vietnam) has flourished into a pillar of Vietnam’s Agri-Food Industry, contributing to national food security, improving livelihoods for millions of farmers, and fostering a green, sustainable environment.

Workshop SAP Net Zero Intelligent Platform

Throughout its journey, guided by the commitment "From Farm to Family", C.P. Vietnam has established and implemented the closed-loop value chain "Feed – Farm - Food & Plus" (3F Plus). The "Plus" component signifies the company's commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, social welfare, and transparent traceability. This model has been the foundation for C.P. Vietnam to maintain economic efficiency in parallel with green growth, driving toward the Net Zero 2050 goal.

3SMART – Shaping a Smart and Sustainable Agricultural Value Chain

Moving beyond production and business efficiency, C.P. Vietnam leads the way with long-term strategies, implemented through a comprehensive management model from input to output: Smart Sourcing – Smart Production – Smart Consumption (3 SMART). This mechanism is applied throughout the entire supply chain, aiming to ensure food security and environmental sustainability.

Smart Sourcing – Responsible Sourcing and Sustainable Supply Chain

C.P. Vietnam has issued a “Sustainable Sourcing Policy and Supplier Guiding Principles” applicable to all suppliers of ingredients and general materials. This policy ensures product quality, traceability, compliance with labor standards, and adherence to environmental protection laws. Furthermore, C.P. Vietnam annually organizes capacity-building programs to support, assess, and train its suppliers. These initiatives not only strengthen supply chain responsibility but also enhance a sustainable and win-win partnership.

Smart Production – Smart Manufacturing and Circular Economy

C.P. Vietnam has been coal-free in our feed production plants since 2021 and has increased the adoption of renewable energy sources such as biomass, rooftop solar, and biogas. This marks one of the company’s notable achievements in emission reduction, through the implementation of circular economy principles aimed at minimizing production waste and optimizing resource efficiency.

Smart Consumption – Smart Consumption and EPR Responsibility

Under C.P. Vietnam’s Sustainable Packaging Policy and Principle, C.P. Vietnam aims for 100% of the Company’s food packaging that could be recyclable, reusable, and compostable by 2030, as well as the elimination of unnecessary plastic packaging. The company has improved its transport methods to reduce plastic waste.

C.P. Vietnam highly values and complies with the Government’s regulation on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). C.P. Vietnam officially joined the PRO Vietnam in 2024 and has authorized the processing of over 1,100 tons of packaging. This collaboration contributes to promoting and encouraging compliance with EPR regulations within the business community, joining efforts to build an effective packaging collection and recycling system in Vietnam.

Implementing ESG – From Strategy to Action

To achieve the CPF goal of Net Zero emissions by 2050, C.P. Vietnam emphasizes the critical importance of measuring, monitoring, and reporting emissions across the entire supply chain, in line with Science-Based Targets (SBTs). This includes direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), and other indirect emissions, primarily from the supply chain (Scope 3).

Message from the 30-Year Journey

Mr. Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit – CEO of C.P. Vietnam – shared: "For C.P. Vietnam Corporation, sustainable development is not just a commitment but a core foundation, where the interests of the country and the community are always prioritized. The company constantly strives to build a sustainable economic ecosystem, harmonious with society and the environment, so that every step of C.P. Vietnam is for a green, prosperous, and sustainably developing Vietnam.”

In 2025, C.P. Vietnam became the first overseas unit of the CPF to implement the "SAP Net Zero Intelligent Platform (SNIP)". This system tracks, aggregates, and reports emission data across the entire supply chain. The system not only ensures transparency but also helps C.P. Vietnam accurately identify emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3, thereby enabling the development of the most effective and scientifically sound solutions for greenhouse gas reduction.

Furthermore, C.P. Vietnam has implemented the Circular Economy model with Biogas systems at its farms, which recover gas from livestock waste and convert it into renewable energy, significantly reducing methane emissions. The company also optimizes energy use, contributing to emission reduction. With modern wastewater treatment systems, C.P. Vietnam recycles or reuses wastewater, enhancing the efficiency of sustainable resource utilization.

The implementation of international standards and high-tech platforms demonstrates C.P. Vietnam's pioneering role in moving toward a zero-emission economy, aligning with the Vietnamese Government's commitments at COP26.

Since 2021, C.P. Vietnam has implemented the program “C.P. Vietnam - Journey for green Vietnam 2021 - 2025"” with the goal of planting and caring for 1.5 million of tree. By 2025, the company has completed this tree-planting goal across 6 provinces, contributing to increasing the green area in mangrove forests, protective forests, and scattered tree areas. This project is crucial for protecting dykes, preventing erosion, responding to climate change, and restoring biodiversity.

After 15 years of operation, the CPV's Donation Fund has continuously spread the spirit of "care and sharing" throughout the country. From practical support for employees to community programs, the Fund has become a reliable anchor, bridging the connection between the enterprise and society.

The company’s collaborative programs with the Food Bank, supporting food relief and combating food waste, also contribute to fulfilling C.P. Vietnam’s sustainability commitments.
