As it builds a digital financial ecosystem, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) was serving nearly 38 million customers as of mid-2026. MB’s goal is not to expand its ecosystem to “sell more” products, but to give customers a complete financial experience where they can meet a wide range of needs on one platform, with better service quality.
According to MB CEO Pham Nhu Anh, customer satisfaction will be the most important foundation for the bank’s long-term growth.
Putting customers at the center of every strategy
At the Investors Conference updating shareholders on its first-half 2026 business results, MB’s ecosystem development strategy drew significant shareholder interest as its customer base reached around 38 million.
Many investors questioned whether developing banking, securities, insurance, wealth management and digital assets at the same time would lead MB to pursue cross-selling at all costs. In response, MB CEO Pham Nhu Anh affirmed that the bank’s approach is not to pressure customers to use additional services. Instead, MB aims to improve product quality, enhance the customer experience and allow customers to access a range of financial services within the same ecosystem when they need them.
“We do not require customers to buy additional products. What matters most is that customers have a better experience, receive better service and gain more value from the ecosystem,” CEO Pham Nhu Anh said.
With around 38 million customers as of mid-2026, MB is not only expanding its customer base but also investing heavily in digital platforms, data and artificial intelligence to personalize services. The bank’s ecosystem connects areas such as digital banking, securities, insurance, wealth management and digital financial services, allowing customers to meet most of their financial needs on a single platform.
According to him, customer satisfaction is a key driver of growth. When customers have better experiences and stay more engaged with the ecosystem, business performance will improve naturally and sustainably. This approach also aligns with MB’s ESG strategy. Responding to an investor’s question about sustainable development, CEO Pham Nhu Anh said ESG is not a temporary trend but a business responsibility. “It is the responsibility of businesses, and MB remains committed to achieving its sustainable development goals,” he added.

Confident in meeting the full-year plan and expanding growth opportunities
Although CEO Pham Nhu Anh viewed the first half of 2026 as a period of significant volatility for the economy and banking sector, he remained optimistic about the full-year outlook.
According to him, when MB developed its business plan at the end of 2025, it expected a more favorable economic environment. However, several adverse factors emerged, including geopolitical volatility, higher energy prices, expected Federal Reserve rate cuts that did not materialize, continued net selling by foreign investors, and banking system liquidity that failed to improve as forecast, putting pressure on deposit interest rates.
CEO Pham Nhu Anh said the State Bank of Vietnam’s policy of maintaining stable interest rates had helped ease competition for deposits in the market. If support policies continue to be implemented, interest rates may still have room to decline in the coming period.
He also acknowledged that the current interest rate environment would affect net interest margin (NIM), but MB would continue to optimize its operations to maintain business efficiency.

At the end of the first half, MB recorded more than VND20.18 trillion (US$776.2 million) in pretax profit, up more than 27% year on year and reaching more than half of its full-year profit target. Total operating income reached nearly VND37.9 trillion (US$1.46 billion), up more than 16%, while consolidated total assets exceeded VND1.73 quadrillion (US$66.54 billion).
Asset quality remained under control, with the target of keeping the parent bank’s non-performing loan ratio at around 1.1-1.2% and the consolidated non-performing loan ratio below 1.5%.
Alongside domestic growth, MB is gradually expanding its international presence. MB currently operates overseas through MB Cambodia and MB Laos. The bank has been licensed to operate in Singapore and plans to open additional representative offices in South Korea and China in the second half of 2026.
According to MB’s leadership, expanding into major financial centers will help the bank better serve FDI corporate customers while supporting investment flows into Vietnam.

MB is also preparing plans to participate more deeply in the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City. This is seen as a strategic step to strengthen competitiveness, build connections with global financial institutions and create more value for customers.

With a strong financial foundation, a growing digital ecosystem and a customer-centered approach, MB is pursuing growth based not only on scale and profit, but also on building a financial ecosystem where every positive customer experience supports the bank’s long-term development.
