More than 14,500 runners from 57 countries and territories came together to create an electrifying atmosphere at the fifth edition of the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon. With thousands of personal milestones achieved, the strides taken along the capital’s iconic course not only shaped an inspiring race, but also continued a journey connecting heritage, culture and lasting community values, showcasing Hanoi, a thousand-year-old capital in constant motion, to audiences around the world.
In this year’s Marathon distance, Vietnamese athletes Huynh Anh Khoi and Pham Thi Hong Le claimed the men’s and women’s titles respectively, finishing in 2:29:58 and 2:50:40. This marks only the second time in the race’s five-edition history, following the inaugural edition in 2022, that Vietnamese athletes have secured the top positions in both the men’s and women’s Marathon. The results demonstrate the growing competitiveness of domestic runners when competing alongside an international field.

Dang Anh Quyet (Nam Dinh, born in 1990) shared at the Awards Ceremony: “I set myself the goal of finishing in the top five and developed my race strategy based on the strength of my closest competitors. In the final kilometres, when the runners ahead began to slow, I decided to increase my pace and pull away to secure third place overall. What makes the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon special goes beyond the finishing position. It is about discipline, perseverance and the belief that each day offers an opportunity to become a better version of myself. Although I have run past Hanoi’s heritage sites and iconic landmarks many times, I still find myself wanting to slow down, take in the surroundings and preserve my own special moments with the city.”
For the 5th Edition, the Organising Committee once again designed a course taking runners past some of Hanoi’s most distinctive landmarks, from Hoan Kiem Lake, the Hanoi Flag Tower and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to the city’s historic streets and Old Quarter, as well as Long Bien Bridge, Nhat Tan Bridge, Dong Tru Bridge and the Red River dyke. Each landmark leaves its own impression, connecting the city’s historical, cultural and architectural values through a distinctive journey of discovery.

Beyond the racecourse, the Marathon Village at Vinhomes Riverside Long Bien remained a major highlight of the fifth edition, attracting a record of more than 40,000 visits over the three days from 2 to 4 October. The venue featured 40 booths and experience zones, together with a wide range of interactive, health, technology and entertainment activities. These diverse touchpoints, professional organisation and attractive gifts from brands including adidas, Techcom Life, Techcom Insurance and the Techcombank OneU loyalty programme contributed to strong participation and positive feedback from athletes.

With continued investment in high professional standards and robust security and safety measures along the course, athletes responded positively to the event and expressed their excitement for the next edition.
Ms Anh Vo, General Manager of Sunrise Events Vietnam, shared: “Each time athletes take on a new challenge, they begin to realise how much further they can go. That is the opportunity and value we see in sport and want to continue building upon at Sunrise Events Vietnam. Our ambition is to inspire 100 million Vietnamese people to reach their full potential through sport and healthy habits. In Hanoi, this means building a community sporting event that people aspire to join, developing communities that help them stay active throughout the year, and fostering partnerships that create more opportunities for local businesses and attract visitors to the city. Together with the Hanoi authorities, Techcombank and our partners, we aim to strengthen and expand these values over the next five editions. The lasting measure of the race’s success will be the values people carry with them and continue to sustain in their lives after crossing the finish line.”
