Vietnam to Set up Technical Barrier Office to Boost Int'l Trade
The Southeast Asian country of Vietnam will establish the technical barriers in the trade (TBT) office to tackle technical issues, facilitating trade between Vietnam and members of the World Trade Organization (WTO), according to a recent decision made by Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen on April 10.
The TBT office will answer any queries concerning technical barriers upon requests, from organizations and individuals in Vietnam and overseas. It will also offer fast response services, answering inquiries within a day by fax or email.
The ministry emphasized that the office, established as Vietnam is inching toward WTO membership would work out a new technical barrier regulations draft and check current rules inline with the TBT convention.
The office will also provide information for local exporters to help them overcome any technical obstacles they face in importing countries.
