Vietnamese outdoor furniture, ceramics and handicraft makers will participate in an international gardening fair in Italy in September to promote their products to the European market.

Christian Biserna, representative of the fair organizer, called on Vietnam businesses at a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City to join the 53rd Flomart Miflor in Padua from September 14 to 16.

Biserna said Vietnam had a lot to offer in wooden, porcelain and ceramic handicrafts. Ornamental flowers will also be on display at the fair.

Italy, as well as other European Union markets show much interest in Vietnam’s pottery, porcelain and terra-cotta goods, according to Lam Minh Tien, director of Ceramic World Ltd. in northern Binh Duong province.

Vietnamese businesses have attended the fair for the past two years. Trade Service Co. has arranged their trips.

Last year, Flormart Miflor drew more than 1,200 businesses and 32,000 visitors. The fair organizer is hoping for similar numbers this year.

In other news, Italy imports much Vietnamese garden furniture, pottery and porcelain, according to the Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade.

Ministry figures show Vietnam exports household furniture, agricultural and aquatic products, clothes, shoes and handicrafts worth around $260-300 million per year to Italy.
