VNNIC Grants New Preferential ".VN" Domains

Vietnam Internet Centre (VNNIC) has supplemented the tariff and fee rates to prepare for the provision of the second-grade. vn domain code. From June 13 to July 13, 2006, VNNIC implements the second phase of the preferential domain provision for organisations, not individuals, which already had the third-grade domains.

 

According to a recent statistics, the new supply of the second-grade .vn domain will raise the total number of websites using this domain to 90,000 in 2010, five times higher than the current level. Around 100,000 organisations and individuals will use domains to present information on the Internet.

 

According to Mr Le Nam Trung, director of VNNIC Economics and Statistics Department, nearly 40 per cent of .vn domains are registered by foreigners, mainly international firms which have a strong foothold in Vietnam.
