HCM City to Host ITC Fair in October
The CommunicVietnam Trade Fair is set to take place at the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition & Convention Center (HIECC) from October 3 to 5, showcasing latest applications and solutions in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry.
“The CommunicVietnam is therefore geared to answering this demand by bringing key players as well as small and medium ICT businesses from around the globe to Vietnam's doorsteps,” he added.
With a telecommunications market valued at $2 billion in 2005 and a mere tele-density of 18.41 phones per 100 persons in a country with a population of 83 million, Vietnam's telecommunications sector will certainly increase in size.
It is estimated that the number of mobile phone users in Vietnam will rise to 21 million by 2008.
Vietnam's economy has expanded by 50 per cent in the last five years and the country has also been identified as one of the fastest growing economies in the world with a GDP growth rate of 7 per cent in the 2006-2010 period, according to the Foresight 2020 report recently released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
Vietnam and the United States reached a pact on market access in late May, opening the way for Vietnam to join the WTO as early as the end of this year.
The telecommunications sector alone has grown annually by 47.8 per cent between 2001 and 2004 and has been rated by the International Telecommunication Union as the second fastest-growing telecom market in the world, only after China.
With strong support expected from key international players and Vietnam's ICT community, CommunicVietnam is expected provide the perfect opportunity to break into the Vietnamese market.
