Minister Delegate for Cooperation, Development and Francophony Visits Vietnam

Madame Brigitte Girardin, Minister Delegate for Cooperation, Development and Francophony, paid a working visit to Vietnam from September 14 to 16. She had talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc. During this visit, Madam Girardin signed the Frame Document on Vietnam-France Partnership Cooperation to specify main orientations for the two countries’ cooperation in the next five years.
 
She discussed France’s main underway cooperation documents in Vietnam in the fields of economy, commerce, human rights and Francophone.
 
Vietnam is now a priority partner of France and is a member of the Francophony. The visit was hoped to help improve the role of Vietnam on the international arena.
Vietnam-France Friendship Delegation Visits Vietnam
 
A seven-member delegation of the France-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group of the French Senate, headed by its President Gérard Miquel, began a working visit to Vietnam from September 11 to 17.
 
During the visit, the French senators will hold talks with deputies of the Vietnamese National Assembly on Vietnam’s economic prospects, the influence of the French economy in Vietnam and France-Vietnam cooperation. They will visit several France-Vietnam cooperation projects in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City and An Giang Province.
 
The French Embassy in Hanoi said, in 2006, the French Senate will sponsor 140,000 euros to Vietnam to help Vietnam train senior officials for Vietnam’s civil aviation industry, set up a multimedia network in French language teaching at universities in Hanoi, train poor young people in Hoa Sua Vocational School, establish a centre for science, information technology and communications at Danang University of Technologies, train ethnic minority young people in Bac Kan Province, and restore formerly Indochina University in Hanoi.
