Hyundai to Sell Cars in Vietnam
Hyundai Motor Vietnam Co. (HMV), the sole distributor of Hyundai passenger cars in Vietnam, is planning to launch a series of new car models in the domestic market from October 2, 2006, said local media.
The South Korean carmaker will sell Coupe sports cars, Santa Fe SUVs and Terracan vehicles in Vietnam, said Mr. Ha Minh Tuan, HMV’s director.
“The first eight Hyundai cars, including two Coupe, two Santa Fe, two Terracan and two H1 ambulances, have been shipped to Vietnam, he said.
All these models are made under advanced technologies, he added.
HMV fears no competition from other rivals as Coupe and Santa Fe are new models in Vietnam, Tuan noted.
According to HMV, a Terracan costs $45,000-48,000, a Santa Fe $48,000-52,000, and a Coupe $52,000-55,000.
According to local media, Hyundai has cooperated with Vietnam’s largest carmaker Vinamotor and Vietnam’s largest shipbuilder Vinashin in car and ship projects.
