The APEC Trade Fair 2006 is taking place at the Tao Dan Park in Vietnam’s economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City from November 11-19, aiming to promote trade activities of the 21 member economies of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

The event, coincided with the on-going APEC leaders' summit on November 12-19 in Hanoi, attracted 300 domestic and foreign enterprises to display their products at 700 pavilions.

In addition, the fair earmarks 3,000 square meters to 21 APEC member economies for their own open-air exhibits. A conference between Vietnamese exporters and US importers, trade promotion programs, and cultural and art activities will also be held during the fair.

The nine-day fair is expected to create a good chance for enterprises from Vietnam and other APEC economies to introduce their products and services, as well as boost cooperation, technology transfer and trade promotion.

As scheduled, Vietnam will welcome around 10,000 guests during the Summit Week, including over 1,000 Americans and especially President Bush, who will pay a bilateral visit on the occasion from November 17-20.

Founded in November 1989, APEC now has 21 member economies. Vietnam joined the organization at the APEC Foreign-Economic Ministers Meeting in November 1998.
