On November 9, the APEC Secretariat received several unique products of Vietnam to present leaders of 21 APEC economies and their spouses on the occasion of their attendance to the 14th APEC. Each product has its own artistic feature and reflects Vietnamese unique culture but they all carry a common message of “wishing international friends to know Vietnamese cultural characteristics, wishing to popularise and improve the image of a dynamic, open and hospitable Vietnam.”

This is not such an easy ceremony. At previous meetings, not all presents were accepted by recipients. The gift presentation ceremony reflects the concern of the State toward enterprises, artisans and artists. The reception ceremony is a chance to honour and recognise the hospitality of Vietnamese companies in particular and the Vietnamese people as a whole. Hopefully, these gifts will bring nice surprises to our distinguished guests.

Originating from the idea “Leaders are the quintessence of their nations,” Than Chau Ngoc Viet uses precious gemstone to make portraits of leaders of all APEC economic leaders. Leaders are like precious gemstones of the human world, bringing the light of peace and eternal happiness to their people and the world. The portraits of 19 APEC leaders needed a 200-day effort byour company, using up 1,520 kg of gemstones of all kinds and took 1,120 pictures of portraits.

With the permission from the Government Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we decided to present silk handkerchiefs to the wives of the APEC economic leaders. The red or black handkerchiefs, embroiled with one-pillar temple and a lotus epitome, are made from original natural silk. The six-month project shows the devotion and the heart of the Vietnamese people toward international friends. Through these gifts, we want our international friends to discover the famous silk industry of Vietnam.
Ms Nguyen Bich Thuy, Lead of Miss Saigon Elegance in Hanoi: “Wishing to introduce products of Vietnamese elegance.”
Miss Saigon Co. decided to present Miss Saigon Elegance perfume - the top product series of Miss Saigon - to the wives of APEC economic leaders. The Vietnamese woman-shaped perfume bottle has two types: the passionate purple bottle for evening and cool weather wear and the gentle blue bottle for day and hot weather wear. We want to introduce the perfume with Vietnamese characteristics - a characteristic fragrance of a tropical monsoon country.

Through our sand portraits, we want to introduce a unique Vietnamese art - sand painting - created by the Vietnamese people. By skilful hands, creativity and patience, the Vietnamese artists use senseless tiny sand to make lively masterpieces. We take pride in portraying leaders of APEC economies. The APEC Vietnam is a golden chance to bring a unique art of Vietnam to our international friends.
