Authorities OK Plans to Built Three Hydropower Plants

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has just approved to build Ngan Truoi-Cam Trang hydropower-irrigation project in central Ha Tinh province at a cost of VND2.8 trillion ($175 million), using the state fund, the Ministry of Industry (MoI) said in a report published this week.
 
The project will include building a reservoir of 800 million cubic meters to provide water for 35,441 hectares of agricultural crops in Vu Quang district, and also secure water supply for 7,100 hectares of aquaculture and 12 industrial projects including Thach Khe iron mining and Gia Lach industrial park.
 
The authorities will also build a hydropower plant with a generation capacity of 24 megawatts.
 
This week the MoI has also agreed to invest state funds valued at VND1.508 trillion (US$94.2 million) to upgrade and build transmission networks in An Giang province between 2007-2010.
 
In related news, the MoI has permitted the Dak Pri Investment Joint Stock Company to build Ea Tul hydropower plant at VND85 billion and the International Cooperation-General Import-Export Company to build Ea Puich hydropower plant at VND140 billion in Dak Lak province.
