Vietnamese ATM Cards up to 1.5Mln Last Year
Vietnam last year saw robust growth of automated teller machine (ATM) cards with total ATM card numbers of over 1.5 million.
Ho Chi Minh City-based credit institutions alone issued 680,477 cards, equaling to 1.14 times as many as 2005.
Presently, the ATM network is rapidly expanding. The southern hub last year installed 114 new ATMs, bringing total ATMs across the city to 543 and total points of sales (POS) to 8,306.
According to a recent survey conducted by Visa Card, 20 per cent of Vietnamese respondents claimed awareness of credit cards, 8 per cent were aware of debit cards and 91 per cent were aware of ATM cards.
