The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has recently issued a dispatch requiring local ministries, branches and localities to make reports on the implementation of ODA-funded projects and programs in 2006, state media said.

Under the dispatch to be submitted to the MPI before February 15, the reports have to include aspects of ODA appraisal and approval, negotiations and agreements.

Localities are also required to inform the MPI of the pace of both ODA implementation and disbursement, as well as ODA-assisted projects completed in the year.

WB country director Klaus Rohland said, financial reports on auditing ODA funded by the WB has shown good results, adding that, the bank will continue ODA support for the country in many areas, especially anti-corruption activities.

According to economic experts, ODA commitment to Vietnam will continue increasing in the coming time, with big donors like the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Japanese Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC), the World Bank (WB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and The German Reconstruction Bank (KFW).

The country is expected to receive a combined pledged capital of US$12.35-15.7 billion in the 2006-2010 phase, showing a remarkable increase compared with US$8 billion from 2001 to 2005.

The disbursed ODA capital is forecast to stand between US$11.46 billion and US$12.41 billion in the 2006-2010 phase. (Investment, Vietnam Economic Times)
