In the past years, the wood processing industry has recorded important successes with high export turnover and more clients abroad. Vietnam Business Forum interviewed Mr. Vo Truong Thanh, General Director of Truong Thanh Furniture Corporation.
It was reported that Truong Thanh Furniture Corporation recently received the International Star Award 2006 by BID at Geneva. Can you tell us the criteria of the award?
International Star Award 2006 is a prestigious award based on constant efforts for improvement of businesses and entrepreneurs worldwide in management and community service. The criteria of the award are: leading sector growth and development; expanding markets and increasing market shares in important markets; business success and improving investment in production and client service. In addition, the Truong Thanh brand has been elected as a strong brand in 2004, 2005 and 2006, Vietnamese product of high quality in 2006 and 2007, and Vietnam Golden Star Award 2005.
What are the necessary conditions to establish a wood processing company?
Most Vietnamese wood processing enterprises are small and medium sized, and failing to meet client demand in volume. There must be more investment and links between enterprises for mutual development. Enterprises must also pay more attention to the quality of products and service to increase credibility, and client privileges. They must protect and develop their brands, by completing registration with local and foreign organizations, and by means of mass media. To ensure successful integration and development, enterprises must also develop human resources, and management and financial capacity.
What are your advantages compared to other enterprises?
Currently, Truong Thanh is the leading group in the Vietnamese wood processing industry supplying indoor and outdoor products, and floor panel world wide. In the past three years, export turnover has increased 30 per cent reaching US$40 million in 2006.
Our advantages are modern technology, diversified high quality products and business experience. We have also applied technical and safety criteria such as BS standard (UK), JIS (Japan), quality management ISO 9001:2000, SA 8000 and CoC production line. The group has started the construction of two new factories in Binh Duong and Dak Lak, increasing the total number to seven factories of European and Japanese standard products with capacity of 3,000 containers (40ft) a year. The strength of the group also lies in the dynamic management and skilled workforce. Together with efficient business activities, Truong Thanh has contributed to environmental protection and sustainable development. Truong Thanh is one of the first four companies qualified for the network of forestry business in Vietnam (VFTN).
