Vietnam's Seafood Firms Expect High Rise in Export Revenue
Domestic seafood processors are striving for growth of 5-17 per cent in export turnover this year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The move is aimed to reach an export revenue target of US$3.6 billion set by the Ministry of Fisheries early this year.
Among seafood processors, the large ones including Minh Phu, Camimex, Jostoco and Agifish, have planned huge investments in modernizing technologies to raise production capacity and diversify export items.
Camimex is expected to increase export turnover by US$10 million against last year; Minh Phu, US$8 million; and Jostoco, US$6 million.
An official from the association said they will help businesses improve their capacity to test for antibiotic residues in materials.
Seafood export revenues were at US$3.36 billion in 2006, surpassing the yearly plan of US$2.8 billion. (Vietnam & World Economy)
