Vietnam to Send 80,000 Laborers Abroad This Year

Vietnam has set a goal to send around 80,000 laborers abroad this year, with the focus on key markets namely South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwain, said Nguyen Van Hoa Head of Overseas Labor Management Department.
 
In the year, more local workers will be sent to Japan, which now attracts up to 5,000 Vietnamese laborers, and Middle Eastern countries where some 3,000 Vietnamese laborers are currently working in the United Arab Emirates and nearly 2,000 in Qatar.
 
Besides, the department will carry out the pilot program of exporting laborers to new markets such as Canada, Macau, the US and Australia.
 
Last year, the department sent as many as 78,885 Vietnamese to foreign countries, raising the country’s total number of laborers abroad to 400,000 workers at present. (Labour)
