Work Starts on Nhan Trach 1 Power Complex

Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) Mar 24 kicked off construction of Nhon Trach 1 gas-power complex at total cost of $420 million in Dong Nai Province, adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City.
 
Once operational in Mar 2008 with combined capacity of 462 megawatts, the project will generate 2.5 billion kWh of electricity a year for the country’s power grid.
 
The consortium EPC, of Vietnam Machinery Installation Corp. (LILAMA) and Construction Corporation No1 will carry out the work on an area of 33.4 hectares.
 
Alsom Power is the equipment provider.
 
The 40km gas-pipe line with designed capacity of 2 billion cubic meters of gas a year linking Phu My, Nhan Trach power complex and Hiep Phuoc IP in the Ho Chi Minh City will be built at total cost of 97$ million.
 
Malaysian Nacap Asia Pacific SDN BHD is the EPC for the work.
 
Tran Ngoc Canh, general director of PetroVietnam said the power plants conducted by this group in Dong Nai and Ca Mau provinces will generate 12 billion kWh of electricity, or 20% of the country’s total output from April 2008. (Vietnam & World Economy)
