ViB Forum reporter Luu Thuy Hiep had an interview with Mr Masato Goto, General Director, NTT Communications Vietnam Ltd.
Could you please summarize the history of establishment and development of NTT Communications Vietnam?
NTT Communications (Vietnam) Ltd.was established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT Communications (NTT Com) on December 25, 2001. Before that, the NTT Group had carried out a variety of business in Vietnam in the years since establishing a liaison office in metropolitan Hanoi in 1994. An example of this is the collaboration between NTT Vietnam Corporation, now an affiliate of NTT East, and Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) for basic network construction in the suburbs of Hanoi. In 1999, the original NTT representative office was replaced by NTT Com's Hanoi representative office. The following year NTT Com concluded a service agreement to launch frame relay interconnection services for Vietnam Data Communication Company (VDC), a data-communications affiliate of VNPT Group, in March 2001. In Sept 2006, the business cooperation between NTT Com and VDC was hallmarked by their agreement to provide Multi Protocol Label Switching-based Global IP-VPN services in Vietnam under the name of VPN/VNN-Arcstar.

Banking systems in Vietnam are developing very fast, especially after Vietnam officially joined WTO. The international integration of banking is critical, and ICT-based applications will be the crucial weapons. How are your company’s ICT solutions in the banking sector?
Among the multinational corporations operating in Vietnam, the international banks have been our strategic customers and our services have been facilitating their international integration.
In reality, the ICT infrastructure of banking systems always claims strictly for stability and security. Our solutions of network integration and system integration own all the necessary standards to meet those requirements. For example, the network outages may come from objective factors such as some natural calamities or subjective ones. To provide the customers with best services, our network integration solutions allow customers to use a diversified connecting system. For example, we can connect customers from Vietnam to the other countries via two separated directions, Hong Kong and Singapore. That means our solutions do not include any single-point of failure which should be avoided in the ICT infrastructure of financial network systems.
In addition to our network and system integration solutions, we are closely cooperating with other members of NTT Group to develop ICT-based applications. Furthermore, our good relation with Vietnamese vendors is also another advantage.
Finally, our comprehensive solutions will find the banking system potential for our business development in Vietnam.
